The University of Central Oklahoma Hockey team started the weekend series against Robert Morris University of Pennsylvania with a goal 14 seconds into the game on Friday night. The Bronchos never looked back the entire weekend as they took Friday night’s game 5-1 than dominated the Saturday night game 10-0.
Matti Jmaeff started the Friday night scoring on a rebound of Andrei Novikov’s shot, than followed that up with another goal his following shift with a feed from Novikov once again. That set the tone as Sam Rice, Taylor Herndon and Kurtis Johnson all added goals for a 5-1 victory.
Saturday night saw Novikov and Jmaeff team up again to get the Bronchos on the scoreboard. Josh Wyatt, Phil Nygardh, Donny Danroth, Brandon Formosa each added a goal while Sam Rice and Andrei Novikov both scored twice. Jacob Wallstedt picked up his first shut out in a Broncho uniform.
UCO travels to Colorado to take on league rival Colorado Buffaloes and Colorado State Rams this weekend before returning home to take on the National powerhouse, Stony Brook University of New York the following weekend.
