The University of Central Oklahoma Hockey team defeated the University of Oklahoma 3-1 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday.
The wins assured the Bronchos of another Western Collegiate Hockey League Championship. Arizona State came in second, while Colorado University ended the season in third place. By capturing the WCHL title, the Bronchos get the autobid into the National Championship Tournament in Columbus, Ohio in March. Currently, UCO is ranked 4th Nationally and look to possibly improve on that ranking as they travel to Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania next weekend to close out the regular season.
“I’m so proud of the way our team has battled all season long. We have overcome injuries and have come out of our conference battle tested. It’s a tough league and with our other non-conference games, I feel we are ready to challenge for the National Championship title”, said Craig McAlister, Head Coach.
